Julie A. Dellger

March 23, 1958 ~ December 6, 2017 (age 59) 59 Years Old

Julie A. Dellger, 59, of Portland, Maine, died suddenly on Wednesday, December 6, 2017.

Julie was born March 23, 1958, to Lawrence and Lucine (Theyerl) Dellger in Plymouth, Wisconsin. She attended St. John the Baptist school and graduated from Plymouth High School in June 1977. Her love and talent for singing and performing were showcased in several plays in which she performed, including the lead role in Funny Girl. During the summer following graduation, Julie was selected to perform in the Kids from Wisconsin, where she continued her love of singing and dancing throughout the state.

Following her stint with the Kids, Julie enrolled at Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts, where she continued her studies in singing and acting.

After briefly residing in St. Louis, Missouri, where she performed in Tent Theatre on the Missouri State University campus, and in Fort Collins, Colorado, Julie’s lifelong love of water drew her wandering feet to the East Coast, first to Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and later to Kittery, Maine. While in Kittery, Julie worked in several fine restaurants in various capacities. It was during this time that Julie took a hiatus from her life in Maine to work for a season at a Raytheon outpost in the Antarctic. She always said that it was one of the most exhilarating experiences of her life. She eventually returned to Maine, but it was then to reside in Portland, with its ocean side view that she loved so much.

Julie possessed a humanitarian spirit that she demonstrated in so many ways. She sang in her church choir, regularly worked at a homeless shelter in Portland, where she helped to feed its residents and provide comfort and conversation. She loved talking and spending time with all people, especially the elderly. Her infectious laugh and outgoing nature made her a delight to be around. She loved her family and enjoyed sending small gifts and cards filled with tons of confetti, which invariably spilled out all over the floor.

Julie is survived by her siblings, Michael (Barbara) of Sheboygan, WI; Deborah (Scott) Richards of Plymouth, WI; David (Patty) of Plymouth, WI; Joseph (fiancée Stacia) of Fort Lee, New Jersey; Jack (Mary Beth) of Plymouth, WI; George (Jill) of Plymouth, WI, and Chris (special friend Carrie) of Plymouth, WI, as well as her much loved  nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Lucine Dellger.

Cremation has taken place. Private family services will be held at a later time in Wisconsin.

Julie lived her life on her own terms. She was a kind, fun woman with a huge, compassionate heart. That is, in the end, as fine a legacy as anyone can hope to leave. She will be dearly missed.
