Florence Jackson (Bonner) Menard

August 29, 1929 ~ July 22, 2017 (age 87) 87 Years Old

 

Florence Bonner Jackson Menard, 87, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2017 in Portland, Maine. She was born on August 29, 1929 to Peter Bonner & Rose Chapins Bonner in the Bronx, NY. She married Joseph Jackson on October 24, 1953. Together they raised 7 children until his passing in 1977.  She married Leo P Menard in 1981. They were married for 34 years before his passing in 2015.

 

Flo devoted her life to her family.  She was happiest when she was needed & helping her family, which was the focus of every one of her days.   Flo loved to laugh & was always up for an adventure. She found the humor, the memorable and the absurd in any situation in ways we should all inspire to do.  She was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox & anything that was important to her children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren.  She truly loved attending school & sports events and witnessing important family milestones.  Her perseverance, tenacity and ability to laugh through it all have left an indelible mark on all fortunate enough to have known her and she was an inspiration to all.  

 

Flo was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Joseph P. Bonner and her 2 husbands.

She is survived by her 7 children,  Lynn Sawyer & husband, Daniel, of Gorham, Michael Jackson & wife Debra of Italy, Patrick of Portland, Steven & wife Donna of Mastic, NY, Joseph of Saco, Daniel of Scarborough,  daughter Laurie Lachance & husband, Steven, of Windham and one stepson, Leo P. Menard, Jr of Biddeford.   Flo is also survived by 19 grandchildren & 9 great grandchildren. 

 

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 1, 11am at A.T. Hutchins Funeral & Cremation Services, 660 Brighton Ave, Portland, Maine. The family will be available from 10-11am for those who would like to share support, memories and entertaining Flo stories.

 

A private burial will be held at St Lambert’s Cemetery in Laconia, N.H. at a later date.
