Dear Barb,
I am so saddened to see that Charlie passed. I was getting worried about not hearing from the two of you and sent and email. I looked up your name in FB and didn't recieve an answer so I was afraid something awful had happened. I am so honored to have known Charlie and You as well. This is very unexpected for me, Charlie always was so full of life and you have my utmost heartfelt condolences! Please contact me if you ever come back to Florida. I would love to hear from you. My prayers and love go out to you and your family.

My deepest condolences to Charlie's family, especially his wife Barb. These things are never easy. Time is a great healer though. And so I hope it will be, for all of you.

To me, Charlie was a very "best friend." We had so many similar likes and curiosities, that they lead us to lots of hikes and adventures together---as we explored to learn more.

Charlie was also a very knowledgeable person. We had many conversations where we would learn from each other. We didn't always agree on some matters, but I feel we always walked away with a good feeling of having had our minds stimulated with fresh thoughts and ideas. I can honestly say---"Times around Charlie were never dull."

Sadly when people leave us they take a piece of our lives with them. I will never be able to say..."Remember the time we did this---or that?" I will miss those chances, as I will the many more that I had hoped we would share in the future.

Memories will always be with me though. I'm sure Charlie will be beside me as I hike the many places we have been before.

His leaving seems too early---too quick. He is already deeply missed.
